Isolation doesn't work

We need one another.
We do not heal in long-term isolation.
I recently read some fascinating neuroscience research on predictive processing. Distilled down, predictive processing teaches us that the brain perceives reality by making predictions based on our past lived experiences.
Trauma and conditioning create very strong, high-level predictions such as:
I am not safe.
People cannot be trusted.
I am unworthy.
The world is dangerous.
These predictions shape perception automatically.
The hopeful part is that we can re-pattern these predictive responses by engaging in group experiences that are safe, trauma-informed, and intended to support growth and healing.
I am forever fascinated by the simple, transformative power of humans human-ing together in intentionally created spaces. I show up in these spaces, and I facilitate these spaces weekly. I believe in the healing that takes place there because I have witnessed thousands of people making new kinds of connections within them.
When humans feel safe enough to drop the masks, expose the tender parts, and be met without advice-giving or anyone trying to fix them, relational healing occurs. We begin to feel safe. We learn to trust people again. We begin to know our worth. The world feels less and less dangerous.

A six-week series where all is welcome. We practice skills, in an intentionally created space, that can be taken into our relationships. We practice and speak about cultivating more self-awareness, because it truly all begins there. We practice embodiment because our nervous speaks through sensation.
