I feel so much gratitude after reading this article…seriously it’s a gift to be able to hear and see and taste and smell and feel. A lot of people can’t do that. Grateful to you for sharing this post. I’ll probably write more. I know it’s a lot and all over but you accept me and my shortcomings
As you know about me, I love this subject!!! Sound has been a source of healing probably forever but I didn’t quite realize how powerful a gift it is and it’s a gift to have the full senses including the ability to hear. The great Buddy Guy wrote in his book the first concert he heard was as a child waking up to the orchestra of the birds in 1930s rural Louisiana. One album I’ve been listening to is West Georgia Blues by Jontavious Willis, who I recently saw in person. It’s music one could hear about 100 years ago in the South to make people happy, feel good about each other, and escape from the daily racism people faced. A song that just popped into my head…Dancing With Myself by Billy Idol. I’m a 1980s guy and that song exemplifies being a teenager in that era. A bookmark in my life. Of course the sound of your sweet voice and the breaths are always welcome to my ears and the wisdom it provides me.
Thank you for sharing Tahir. ALL Of you is welcome here. How sweet to receive a little glimpse into the music and musicians that inspire and nourish you. Yes!
Interesting! I'm super sensitive to sound in both ways: the wrong sounds can get me overwhelmed real quick (like a radio at work) but the right sounds can calm me down. I often listen to a mix of water, piano and bird sounds. But I love sound healing too so will listen to the album your recommend.
Thanks for sharing Sophie, what a great awareness to have and then to intentionally bring in sounds that are a YES for body/mind/heart/soul. This album has been a soothing balm for mine, would love to hear if nourishing you too. ✨
